Feedback about Math/Art/Science Nights

5/15/2018 11:52 am

"We enjoyed math night, but we thought the art area was confusing and the art work was a little expensive! We would have preferred just seeing all the kids art without the option to buy it. Our kids were upset we didn’t buy theirs, so next year we will try to avoid the art area, so our kids won’t question why we didn’t buy theirs. We heard a few parents say they only bought their kid’s art, b/c they felt obligated. One event not on this survey was Science night. My kids loved it, had a great time, and the High School kids seemed to enjoy it also! Hopefully we have it again next year, it’s advertised more, and more people attend, b/c it was a great event!" 5/12/2018

Math Night: While the PTO supports Math Night financially ($100 in 2017-18), the school's Math Coach, Tiffany Satterfield planned the evening and executed it with the assistance of SSES teachers and high school students from Ravenwood's Math Honor Society. We will pass your kudos to her!

Student Art Show: The school's Art Teacher plans the Student Art Show and the evening is executed by volunteers from the PTO's Art Committee. The proceeds from the Student Art Show go directly to the Art Teacher to be used to purchase supplies for her classroom. We will pass along your feedback for consideration. (Note: Similarly, the Librarian plans the Book Fairs which are executed by PTO volunteers and all profits go directly to the Librarian to be used to buy items for the Library.)

Science Night: Science Night was a new event in 2017-18. It was brought to Sunset as a service project from Ravenwood High School and 3rd Grade Teacher, Ms. Wagner, was the school's liaison for the event. The SSES PTO had no involvement planning or executing the evening, but we are so glad to hear you enjoyed it! The school administration hopes to continue hosting this event and we will share your comments with them.

THANK YOU to our CORPORATE SPONSORS!
